The rotor is embedded with neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets of high magnetic energy product and high coercivity, such as grades N48M and N52. No electric excitation is required, as the permanent magnets continuously produce a constant magnetic field. This is where the name "permanent magnet" derives, and it marks a fundamental difference from conventional asynchronous motors. The rotor magnetic field of an asynchronous motor is induced by the stator, while that of the direct-drive motor is directly supplied by permanent magnets, delivering a more stable magnetic field and lower energy consumption.Phase 2: Electromagnetic torque generation

When alternating current is supplied to the three-phase stator windings, a rotating magnetic field is formed inside the motor. In accordance with the law of electromagnetic force, interaction between the stator rotating magnetic field and the rotor permanent magnetic field generates electromagnetic torque, driving the rotor to rotate synchronously with the stator field. Since the rotor operates in full synchronization with no slip, the direct-drive motor is essentially a type of synchronous motor.Phase 3: Low-speed high-torque direct output

By optimizing the number of stator pole pairs (p) and implementing variable frequency control, the motor can output higher torque under the same current. As shown in the torque formula \(T\propto\Phi\cdot p\cdot I\), the permanent magnets provide high magnetic flux \(\Phi\), and the multi-pole design increases the value of p, leading to a corresponding rise in torque. Meanwhile, reducing the power frequency f will lower the rotational speed in line with the synchronous speed formula \(n_1=60f/p\), while the torque increases instead. This realizes direct low-speed high-torque operation without relying on reducers for torque amplification.In terms of starting performance, the peak torque of Voofu direct-drive motors reaches twice the rated torque, enabling reliable start-up under heavy loads. Its starting current is only 1.5 to 2 times the rated current, far below the 5 to 7 times of asynchronous motors, resulting in minimal impact on the power grid. With an overload capacity of 2.0 to 2.5 times the rated load, the motor copes well with shock conditions such as uneven feeding and sudden load changes.Voofu widely applies fractional-slot concentrated winding technology in motor design. It effectively weakens cogging torque and reduces stator copper loss, greatly improving torque density and operational stability.
